The Fourth Rail puts out a wonderful summary on how Islam is affecting (afflicting?) the world today in their “The State of Jihad” article.  You’ll notice an extensive list of what Muslims call “radicals” when they’re speaking to the news media.  Your challenge for 2007: Find me ”moderate Muslim” leaders who denounce all of the jihadist activities listed on The Fourth Rail.

I gave you all year, because I know you can’t do it.

This situation reminds me of how naive I was when I was sent to Macedonia during the Kosovo Air Campaign.  I worked in the S2 shop providing tactical intel and analysis for the 1-4 Cavalry of the First Infantry Division.  I remember doing some reading on what started the Serb on Albanian violence when a young lieutenant over me said, “the Serbs are being bred out of their own country.  The Albanians decided if they can’t win politically, they’ll win reproductively.”

I remember thinking what an insensitive and, at the time, racist comment that was.  When the air campaign was over, I moved into Kosovo with the 1st ID and was located with the 501st Hellenic (Greek) Infantry supporting both them and a special forces team doing, again, tactical intel.  During my short time there (6 months) the Albanians killed, intimidated, or forced all but 2 Serbs to leave the area.  Not happy with just that, they started picking at the Roma when the Serbs looked about done.

Looking at how our newspapers cover some of these stories and seem more intent on taking shots at our leaders than protecting our interests, I wonder if the “breeding out” campaign has begun here.  Certainly the Islamic political views are winning when I have to explain to my sister-in-law why Northern Virginia Community College is being biased in telling her that Israel is to blame for 9/11.

Right Wing Nation has a bit on how France is in the midst of losing this same battle because they are determined to be sensitive to their minorities needs to the exclusion of their country’s well-being.  Unfortunately, their minorities have no such care for their nation’s needs, refuse to assimilate, and bide their time while they gain a foothold.

Wait… I’m getting something… refuse to assimilate… catering to minorities to the exclusion of the nation’s welfare… trying to gain a foothold; politically and demographically… where have I heard that… Oh yeah.
