Saturday Morning Coffee
The Chicago Tribune reports on a Muslim convert intent on “jihad,” according to the story. According to the story, Derrick Shareef said, “I just want to smoke a judge.” The informant, working with the police, suggested he switch his target to the mall in order to spread some Christmas fear. “Oh hell yeah, the mall is where it’s at,” said Shareef. Police reported Shareef’s plan was never in danger of succeeding. They arrested him when he attempted to trade stereo speakers for grenades to an undercover officer.
I guess it’s true what they say about terrorism and education…
According to the Tribune, Muslim leaders in Rockford urged the public not to associate the alleged incident with the Islam faith. “We know of no one who pursues this type of violence,” said Imam Shpendim Nadzaku. “This is not what we believe.”
Well, maybe if more Imam’s condemned terrorism instead of simply trying to disassociate from it those words wouldn’t sound so hollow.
USA Today reports on the Foley scandal and Hastert’s involvement. I’m sorry, but… yawn. Foley’s icky… and gone. Good. I guess I just remember being 17 myself and being victimized sexually wasn’t really in the cards. At 17, virginity was already a year old memory. If it had been with a 45 year old teacher rather than a girl my age I don’t think it would have mattered that much. That doesn’t excuse Foley, but it also doesn’t merit the level of loathing coming from the left who endured an adulterer in the White House (personally, again, yawn) and their own pederasty scandal… followed by re-election of the culprit. Then you have the ACLU, a veritable army of lefty lawyers, defending pedophilia under a fog of free speech.
I must be in the minority, though, if the Church of Scientology is cutting off another source of funding over this. Foley’s out, Hastert’s disgraced, and the page program is a national joke. Compare that to the last time it happened (Studds) and scratch your head over where justice lives. Full report from the ethics committee is here.
WOW. Just… wow. I love National Geographic. I wonder how many abortions would be performed if they used this camera technique before going in after the kid.
Ok… time to get another cup of coffee.
